Bill Galatis Franchise Owner/Operator, Guitar & Bass Instructor A Massachusetts native, Bill has been heavily involved in music and art since his wee elementary school days. He started on the cello, moved on to the Saxophone and then made the exciting jump to the electric guitar at 16 years old, after his annoyed sax teacher told him to either stop bringing in guitar music to lessons or go learn how to play the guitar... the rest, as they say, is history.
Having a degree in art, Bill's knowledge in music on the guitar came from various teachers, bandmates, other guitar players and most importantly, his music and music video collection. The boundaries of his tastes can be seen but not limited to Black Sabbath, Bjork, Faith No More, classical, Frank Zappa, film scores, Weird Al Yankovic and everything in between. He faithfully still continues to educate himself frequently with whatever tickles his ear fancy on any given day.
Bill has shared stages with such musicians as Mike Keneally, Cave In, 24-7 Spyz, Suicide City (composed of members from Biohazard and Kittie), Pray for the Soul of Betty (who'd lead singer is American Idol finalist, Constantine Maroulis), Jesse Dee, Kid Napkin, Captain Cutthroat, 26 Beers, Vicki Sixx of Sugar Bomb, Creeping Death (Metallica Tribute), Cancer Conspiracy, The Pisscubes, and many more.
His current musical endeavors include being the bass player/co-writer for Audible Crayons (with fellow SOR teacher Michael Scrima)... singer, guitarist and co-writer for Mr. Bruce (with fellow SOR teacher Pat Speece)... and putting the finishing touches on his first solo album that he wrote, performed and recorded the entirety of it himself.
His past outifts included, but weren't limited to the bands... An Evening with Black Sabbath (guitarist in tribute band), Sleeprunner (singer/guitarist/writer), March of Sound (guitarist/co-writer), Ugly in the Morning (guitarist in Faith No More tributeband, The Rise Park (bassist), Throe (session guitarist and co-writer), Shaman/The Straight Down (guitarist, vocalist and writer)... to name a few amongst many other bands and one off projects.
Bill has been at the School of Rock in Watertown since day one... in fact, he's been there before the school even had a location to call their home. He's directed over 25 shows as well as having personally launched every new program at the school. When he's not saving rock n' roll, one kid at a time, you'll find him in his office setting up, repairing and "Frankensteining" guitars for the school, the students and himself.
Please, come knock on the door and say hi!!

Bassam Habal Bass & Guitar Instructor Bassam Habal grew up in the 70s in Gainesville Florida where he fell in love with the great funk and disco music of the era. Little did he know that one day he would end up playing many of the tunes from his roller skating youth. He took up bass at age 14, inspired by John Paul Jones' great bass line on "Ramble on" by Led Zeppelin. At a bass lesson about two years later, Bassam asked his instructor to show him how to play the rhythm guitar part to Van Morrison's "Domino." It was from this point on that Bassam began playing guitar. His first gig in high school was senior year playing at a dance with a band called "The American Dream." The proceeds from the event were forced to be donated to the school and somewhere on a plaque in the high school library may exist a record of this "donation."
Around the mid 90s, Bassam started a Grateful Dead cover band called Electric Hummus which still exists today under the name Playin' Dead. Electric Hummus in its early years were known to grace Holyoke Center in Cambridge with their wild and woolly tribute. After leaving Playin Dead, Bassam started another Grateful Dead style band called the Psychedelic Conspiracy. The Psychedelic Conspiracy played many a local venue before its untimely demise in the early 2000s. Always eager to form new project, Bassam became a co-founding member of the local soul band The Chicken Slacks Soul Revue, wanting to immerse himself in the soul music that influenced many of the great sixties bands like the Beatles, The Who and the Rolling Stones. Bassam left the Chicken Slacks in '08 and started a classic hard rock tribute band called Nadz. Nadz primary mission, other than playing many of the hard rock classics that Bassam loved from his youth, was to bring the fun back into rock and roll which he felt went out the window in the 90s when band's began taking themselves way too seriously. Just recently he joined the show band Party on the Sun returning once again to play some of the roller skating classics of his youth as well as some contemporary works.
Bassam has been a fan of the School of Rock since his the first time he saw the School of Rock All-Stars do a tribute to Frank Zappa in New York sometime in the early 2000s featuring Zappa Alumunus Napoleon Murphy Brock. He also traveled several times after this to New York to see the All-Stars play. It was indeed through a visit to the New York chapter through a friend of his that taught at the New York branch that Bassam was told of the opening of the Boston School. After much persistence, Bassam became a proud member of the school. Bassam has also been a dj on WMBR radio for 15+ years doing a show called the Lost and Found. Bassam adopted the stage name "Mighty Slim" due to his svelte build. Through the radio and through the school, Bassam hopes to pass his love of what he considers great music to others.
